Lost in the snow in Juarez
When you’re lost in the rain in Juarez
And it’s Eastertime too
And your gravity fails
And negativity don’t pull you throughDylan
It wasn’t raining, and Easter is 2 months away, but Bob’s lines melodiously swirled in my head as I tried to capture the snow falling over our city. It was cold and refreshing and for a few moments the dust was subdued by a thin layer of wet snow; it made everything feel peaceful and clean and it bolstered my hope for the border-land and for Mexico.
Rumi said to us: be melting snow and wash yourself of yourself. This has become my prayer and cry for myself and for our world.

rumi is wise and always seems to state his case in weird and abstract ways. but i think most people don’t care to wash themselves of anything except what they’re using soap for. people are comfortable. in their houses with their cars and their computers and their tv’s and their phones. i wish there way to make people care, or see another persons circumstances in such a way as to permanently change their previous perceptions. anyhow, i like your post, who would have thought, snow in juarez!

Steve,
I think that the more we really struggle with injustice, look squarely at it in it’s ugly face, the more other people will see that there is something more to life than what society dictates.
Thanks for you words, bro.

Hey guys,
Found the link to the Rick Warren article where he talks about developing a heart for the poor; the one you found in our Reader’s Digest. Here is the link.

Our students are discussing it this week.
I’ll try to keep you up on it a bit.
