Youth of Juarez
We were thrilled to be able to return this week to Juarez to be with our brothers and sisters here, to love and pursue, and to live life together and show them that they are not forgotten.
The morning after we arrived we found ourselves in the midst of a Vacation Bible School for the local kids that was completely hosted by the youth of Juarez. These same youth have, for the past six months, been using our half-finished community center for weekly worship, celebration, and prayer for their city. These youth are crying out for more, more for themselves and restoration for their city, and they are going after it even when surrounded by dirt, tar paper and chicken wire. They have discovered the truth of the hope of our Good God for this city, and they will not relent. They have not been paralyzed by the fear that so easily entraps the masses, they have not given up after seeing the desperation and despair, hearing daily of the massacre in their hurting city, or seeing the horrifying pictures splattered all over the papers in the streets. They have not given in because they are looking up, they believe there is more for their city, and they believe in something greater that no despair can take down. And so they continue to fight on against this raging war with another kind of ammunition: hope… and water!

Awesome!!! This makes me smile so big!! I wish we could put these kid’s smiling faces up on the billboards throughout Juarez.
They are the future. They are worth every heartache we feel for this city. They are what spurs our hearts to fight for hope and justice for their city. They are Juarez!
We love you two so much. Thank you for giving all you have for these kids and this city!

It is exciting to hear that the youth and children are already using the only half-finished community building to seek God and make their community better. The children and the youth are the future of Juarez. All children and youth hunger for role models and for a purpose bigger than themselves. We must all invest in them, help them find a meaning in life that is far beyond anything they can tangibly see around them. That community building can be used in so many ways to address that need. Let’s pray God will speak to hearts to pour in the funds.

wow. this is so encouraging. and convicting.
how beautiful that the youth are taking hold of their city and drawing in the power of the Creator to help them reach their neighbors. this is a perfect example that God has not turned his back on Juarez. there is hope for betterment and growth in this place.
i can feel the Lord telling me that i need to be more like them.
thanks for sharing this!
