There is often a fine line between being informed and being totally encompassed with facts in this information age. I understand the need to become educated about the new culture you have embraced. That is necessary. You have learned the wisdom of not allowing it to overwhelm you, to overtake your spirit. Unlike the locals who have had generations to adapt to their surroundings, you were swallowing the whole bitter pill at one time. Yes, the first thing in the morning is not the time to focus on the "bad news" in any culture. Wiser to focus on the "good news" that can give you direction and strength for the day. And just a thought for you to consider.---I went down that road also, of gathering every bit of information I could about a son who was in the front lines in a war while I was by myself in the lonely city of New York. A young man my sons age told me to quit watching all that news every evening when I got home from work. He said he would watch it for me and would tell me if there was anything important I really needed to know. I realize your situation is different, since you are indeed on the battleground, as well. But perhaps you could limit your information collecting to just enough to be informed and enabled to make wise decsions about where you go and what you do. Don't become naive about the reality of the danger, but endeavor to keep your mind on the things God has told us to focus on,-- basically -- HIM.

Man, your writing is getting really good. I love the voice you are developing and the direction you are heading. I can't wait to read more.

Ephesians 6:12

For our fight is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens.

I got reminded of this verse, yet again, yesterday in church. It's funny, the older I get, the more these verses make sense to me. I wish the Christian book stores sold God Glasses that we could put on over our eyes to see this old worn out world how He does. It would all make sense then, you think?
